Tableside Sazarac

The Sazerac is part of the original family of classic cocktails. It can be hard to get right, but when done well, there are few better drinks out there.
— Cameron Parish, Bar Manager

Much like an Old Fashioned, the Sazerac is a rare opportunity to dress up an incredibly rare and high-quality spirit, in a way that lets the liquor shine.

At Gimlet, we offer three variations of the Sazerac, each prepared tableside and served with finesse.

The first variation is the Lotus Club, made from 13 year old Pappy Van Winkle Reserve Rye Whiskey, with the addition of absinthe and Angostura bitters, a variation that dates back to 1948. Next is our Cognac Sazerac, featuring Tesseron Lot 53, a fine brandy aged in Charentes for a minimum of 60 years. The last is the New York, a modern interpretation of the Sazerac that combines Rye and Cognac in equal parts.

A great Sazerac is defined by the skill with which it is prepared. When the cocktail is ordered, the bartender carefully collects the rare liquors, barware and garnishes required, presenting the ingredients to the table on a vintage silver tray. The Sazarac is stirred and poured with ceremony tableside, presented classically in a frosted rocks glass with a twist of lemon.
